Irving Weber Award Ceremony

” The Irving Weber Award is conferred by the Johnson County Historical Society in recognition of distinguished contribution to the research, writing, or preservation of Johnson County history.”

Johnson County Historical Society will be holding a reception in honor of this year’s Irving Weber Award recipient, Hills Bank and Trust Company, for their continued contributions and support of Johnson County history. Light refreshments will be served. Short annual meeting to follow award ceremony.

JCHS will also be unveiling a new exhibition during this event. The photography exhibition “Street View: Downtown Iowa City, Then and Now” highlights images of the downtown area’s buildings and businesses from 1960 and 2016. JCHS will display these street scenes along with period artifacts. The side-by-side views will encourage visitors to compare the buildings and businesses of downtown Iowa City “then” and “now.” The exhibition opening will begin at 3 pm, following the annual meeting.
